How this tracker works

This dashboard uses verified flight data from FlightRadar24, the world's most popular flight tracking service. A backend process fetches new arrival data every 15 minutes and caches it locally, so the page loads instantly.

Runway data: Unlike inferred methods, FR24 provides the actual runway_landed field for each flight — independently verified ADS-B data, not estimated from coordinates or wind direction.

Data coverage: The tracker maintains a rolling 3-month window of flight data, updated every 15 minutes. Each flight is counted once when it lands at LHR. If cached data is unavailable, the page falls back to wind-based estimation as a last resort.

Why this matters: Heathrow's own WebTrak tool has been shown to undercount or misattribute flights on certain runways. This tracker provides an independent, verifiable record for evidence-based noise campaigning.
